Overview:


Philips Consumer Lifestyle is one of three market-driven sectors within Royal Philips Electronics, delivering lifestyle solutions for personal wellbeing. The sector employs approximately 25,000 people in 49 countries and operates in the business activities Television, Audio Video & Multimedia, Peripherals & Accessories, Domestic Appliances, Shaving & Beauty and Health & Wellness. It runs manufacturing operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Hungary, Austria, Poland, the USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, China and Singapore.

The Centre of Competency for Consumer Lifestyle (CL) located at the Philips Innovation Campus (PIC) Bangalore is a Philips wide recognized knowledge & development centre. Here we design and develop the software for CL products. Our technical experts work on a wide range of domains developing some of the most innovative products. We achieved the prestigious CMMI L3 in our journey towards higher quality assessed as per the Philips Appraisal Method.


The Television team, established in 1996, is one of the oldest at the Philips Innovation Campus. This team has evolved over a decade with experiences spanning various display technologies, broadcast standards, architecture, product requirements, understanding user requirements in-depth and delivering differentiators. This team has built up competence in Middleware & User interface on the development front. The team leverages it vast expertise in the areas of Digital broadcast, Connectivity standards & protocols, SW Integration, Product validation making TV viewing more enjoyable and reflecting the consumer’s holistic interest in better well-being.


PIC CL has become an integral part of the sector’s innovations contributing through higher participation in patent generation.


The current operations in CL apart from the partnership with various business units include the contributions towards Test and Engineering Services, Advanced Development and Special projects.


The special projects group focuses on development of software solutions that can be used by more than one BU. Currently the 3 projects that are DLNA/UPnP Software stack, ECD (Electronic content directory) client software for connected products and Marlin DRM Client software. These projects are adequately supported by hardware solutions.


The Interoperability Certification Centre (ICC) and the engineers, together with their customers and partners contribute to the growth of the technological competency at PIC enabling us to participate in various Consumer Electronic standardization forums.


The HDMI Authorized Testing Center is unique within Philips and enables all Philips HDMI products to be certified. This dedicated laboratory carries out HDMI compliance testing according to the specifications of HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) 1.3b. It has now opened its services to non Philips entities.
